Paris Fashion Week!

I know Paris Fashion Week finished on Wednesday but it's currently the October holidays in Scotland and I've been trying to pack in as much as possible and have had hardly anytime to relax in my house before I drop dead in my bed each night, never mind turn on the computer and write up a blog post!

So here we go: Paris Fashion Week is possibly my favourite fashion week out of them all! The whole feeling of Paris gets me excited, everything is so elegant and classy, and outlandish! This season was defiitely no different. There were so many collections that got me excited for next season: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gareth Pugh, Hussein Chalayan, Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, and Viktor & Rolf. All of these collections were so strong and different in their own way. Although all of the fashion houses mentioned were amazing there were 3 that stood out for me in different ways to be my fav out of the whole week: Céline, John Galliano, and Alexander McQueen.

Céline
Celine gave us an amazing, clear-cut tailored, collection. What I really love about this collection is the fact that it took traditional ideas and changed them ever so slightly to give a completely refreshing look that leaves you with a clear head. The colours used are interesting, the plum, dark green and burgundy reds gave a whole different ball game to play with during the spring and summer of next year.

John Galliano
Although you can sense the absence of Galliano himself it doesn't distract away from an, all-together, amazing collection! Bill Gaytten, who worked with Galliano, has taken on the reins of the fashion house. This collection was John Galliano stripped down, it had all the main ingredients of a fabulous collection: feminine tailored jackets, outlandish ball gowns and frills to kill to give a complete Ready-To-Wear collection. The whole collection has a 'Mary Poppins' feel to it that hopefully catches on next season as it is so elegant and gorgeous. All in all, the collection was a success and a big congrats to Bill Gaytten for keeping the brand to its core.

Alexander McQueen
After McQueen's death I was unsure of how the label would be brought forward, with Lee McQueen's last proper collection being the legendary 'Plato's Atlantis' which blew the fashion world to a completely new level, it would be hard for anyone to follow up this brand. Sarah Burton started slightly off the spot but has improved on each collection since. I feel like Spring/Summer 2012 was truly McQueen with Burton taking what McQueen has shown her and using her own initiative to create this elegant and quite dark collection. The black's and blood red's along with the lace head pieces gave a mystery to the models look and the overall collection. A fab collection to keep the the Alexander McQueen fashion house at the tops of it's game!
