Viktor & Rolf Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 2012.

After last seasons red-faced models covered head to toe in black, this season was a complete contrast. This season was bright and girly, giving a Barbie like sheen to the whole collection. Viktor & Rolf have been one of my favourite designers, from hearing about them while i was growing up, to watching their last couple of shows after a friend, who is interested in Róisín Murphy, showed me a video of a collection while Róisín sang during the show and after a mere hour of researching I had fallen in love with their designs.

My favourite feature from this collection was the over-sized and child-like stitching. Not only did it add to the Barbie look but by adding it on to the black pieces it just lifts it all and adds a beautiful feature. Another feature that caught my eye was the swirls of detail that seemed to have been embroidered onto the pink coloured items, such a glamorous effect. The choice of colour was also great through out: peachy pinks and playful blues added on to a a black or white canvas, which keeps everything toned down and not too in your face but still fun!

Personally, my favourite part and some of the most sought after pieces of their shows are their finale dresses. The details shown throughout the show shown in such an outlandish and grand way is just gorgeous and I always look forward to seeing many Hollywood celebrities wearing these designs at red carpet events or glossy magazine photo shoots.

And lastly, the actual runway spectacle itself. Viktor & Rolf usually have something interesting up their sleaves with previous runway shows having live musical appearences from Róisin Murphy and this season was no different with a French duo, Brigitte, singing throughout the show in 30 feet skirts which then parted to reveal the opening of the runway. utter genius.
